Wroclaw is a city which likes detective stories. Not only it is inseparably linked with the writer Marek Krajewski and his hero – Eberhard Mock, a criminal policeman trailing murderers in the alleys of Breslau – The International Festival of Detective Stories takes place here, too. In addition, urban games thematically refer to bloody mysteries.

This year the International Festival of Detective Stories will take place from 26 to 31 May. As part of the event, every year, meetings with authors, scientific lectures, discussions on literature, exhibitions and book fairs take place. For those for whom passive participation is not enough, the organiser offers participation in an urban game. Wroclaw, specifically Podwale Street, will become a board of the game “Trap” (31 May) which has a scenario inspired by the works of Agatha Christie – the queen of detective fiction, whose 125th birth anniversary will be this year. The aim of the game is to find a murderer. But beware! He may be close, very close…

If someone cannot participate in this game, it is not all lost. A completely separate thing is the game “Mafia Wroclaw” created by students of the University of Economics in Wroclaw. The rules are fairly unusual for an urban game. Wroclaw is invaded by the mafia and you are a part of it. You get an envelope with instructions that you must follow. Remember! The struggle for power in the family can be ruthless. Sometimes you have to sacrifice loved ones…
